On 26th of October 2022, SUPEERA and PANTERA projects jointly organized a workshop in Budapest to enhance collaboration in R&I activities in Hungary, facilitate knowledge exchange, and showcase best practices of how international networking and cooperation can be beneficial for establishing long-lasting interactions in R&I activities.
The workshop was joined by key representatives from the Hungarian government, energy industry, and research organizations. The participants had the opportunity to discuss what actions and strategies are needed to reach Hungarian ambitious carbon neutrality targets for 2050 and how to increase Hungarian stakeholders’ participation in Horizon Europe calls.
A crucial point highlighted by the speakers throughout the workshop was the importance of reducing natural gas dependency, through R&I in district heating, system integration, energy savings, and energy efficiency. As for Hungary’s low performance in HE, the panellists identified the abundance of domestic and cohesion funds available in the country as one of the main criticalities.
